Jelena Milo’s paintings move beyond representation into a territory where landscape and perception intersect. Snow, water, altitude, and human traces appear not as motifs but as atmospheres—spaces where silence thickens and waiting becomes visible. The landscapes here are not places to be seen, but conditions to be inhabited by the body and mind.

Her work situates perception as a lived experience, where seeing is as much tactile and temporal as visual. Memory and emotion shape these mental terrains, while absence and trace suggest presence without narrative. Human intervention is indirect—manifest through interruption, shadow, or fragment—revealing a fragile dialogue between nature and inner space.

Executed in oil on canvas, Milo’s compositions are layered and quiet, inviting slow attention. Her practice is rooted in introspection and duration, calling for a mode of viewing that is patient, embodied, and reflective.

Born in Yugoslavia in 1979, she lives and works in Belgrade. Her work has been exhibited internationally in solo and group exhibitions across Serbia, Germany, Canada, and other European contexts
